Named for F.O. Marvin, first dean of engineering, Marvin Hall opened in 1909 as the engineering school. The school eventually became known as the School of Engineering and Architecture. In 1968, architecture became a separate academic school. By 1976, all engineering departments except architectural engineering had moved to another campus building, and Marvin became home to the architecture school.
